Physicists are problem solvers and their ability to think analytically is a great asset. Analytical and quantitative skills make physicists versatile and adaptable, so they work in interesting fields such as renewable energy, quantum information science, materials development, biophysics, astrophysics, particle physics, among many others.
Majoring in physics is excellent preparation for almost any career because students learn how to analyze complex problems and acquire a strong quantitative background that can be applied in any technical field.
At the undergraduate level, Texas State's Department of Physics offers majors in physics (B.S. and B.A.) as well as teacher certifications in physics.
